Peter Grogan is a past student of Gurteen College and was Appointed Health & Safety, Crops & Machinery lecturer in June 2017. He attained BSc (Hons) in Land Management in Agriculture from Waterford Institute of Technology and M.Agr.Sc in Agricultural Innovation Support from University College Dublin.
Peter’s previous experience includes Drystock Advisory with Teagasc and as an AI technician with Progressive Genetics.
As lecturer, Peter educates full time level 5 & 6 agricultural students. The modules include; crop production, tractor operations, beef production, animal science, environmental & sustainable agriculture and farm business planning.
Gurteen College provides students with the academic and practical skills training needed to run a day to day farm business enterprise. A typical day in Gurteen involves delivery of academic course work material in the mornings and practical skills sets training in the afternoons. Career Opportunities include progression to WIT or DKIT to complete an honors degree, roles in agriculture and agri-business sectors, agri sales or services, beef industry, quality assurance, procurement officers, meat factory inspectors and in the Dept. of Agriculture
