This module aims to give the student an introduction to the sheep sector in Ireland. The topics covered include sheep husbandry skills, healthe and welfare, understanding the sheep sector in Ireland, sheep housing and nutrition. Sheep husbandry skills include lambing skills, dosing, hoof pairing, estimating weights, drafting lambs for slaughteer, Identifying Breeds and Crosses.
