Stephanie Scully

Stephanie is currently the Assistant Principal for Gurteen College. Stephanie comes from a beef farming background and helps out on her home farm in Co. Laois. Having spent 4 years studying Agriculture in UCD specialising in Animal Science Stephanie graduated with a 1st class honours degree from University College Dublin in June 2009.

In September 2009 Stephanie joined a research team known as the Reproductive Biology Research Cluster. The research group was made up of research scientists from Universities in the US, Germany, UK and Ireland all working together to help solve the various reproductive problems associated with dairy cows.

During her 4 years working with the research group Stephanie completed a PhD project focusing on identifying early signs of pregnancy in dairy cows using high resolution ultrasound imaging. During this time she published a number of research articles associated with dairy cow fertility and has presented at many international conferences on the topic of dairy cow fertility.  Following the completion of her PhD in 2013 Stephanie spent a further year working on contract projects in both research and lecturing.

In 2015 Stephanie joined the Teagasc Education team to help deliver part time and distance courses in Agriculture at Gurteen College and was later appointed a permanent post as Dairy Production lecturer in 2016. Stephanie’s main areas of expertise lie in the reproductive management of Dairy cows, Animal Nutrition, Herd Health and work/labour organisation.
